Manuka Pay
Merchant help Getting started

Getting started

From creating your account to accepting your first payment — here's everything you need to do in order.

Setup steps

1

Create your account

Go to the Manuka Pay merchant portal and register. You'll need your business email address. After registering, check your inbox for a verification email and click the link to activate your account.

2

Verify your email

Click the verification link in the email Manuka Pay sends after registration. You won't be able to access your dashboard until your email is verified. If the link has expired, log in and request a new one.

3

Start Stripe onboarding

From your dashboard, click "Connect with Stripe". You'll be redirected to Stripe to create a Stripe Express account. This is your direct account with Stripe — Manuka Pay does not hold your money. Stripe handles all payment processing and payouts directly to your bank.

4

Complete Stripe's identity verification

Stripe will ask for your business details, identity documents, and bank account information. This is Stripe's own KYC (Know Your Customer) process — Manuka Pay has no visibility into or control over it. Typical documents needed: government-issued ID, business registration (if applicable), bank account details, IRD number.

5

Set up your business profile

Once Stripe verification is underway, go to Settings in your dashboard. Fill in your business name (shown to customers on every payment page), a short description (optional, max 120 characters), a public support email, and a public phone number. These appear on your payment page and printed QR code.

6

Configure your payment page

Still in Settings, choose your QR Mode (open amount, preset buttons, or both), set up any preset payment amounts, and choose your pricing mode (fees on top or fees included). See the Payment Settings guide for full detail on each option.

7

Print or share your QR code

Go to Dashboard and you'll see your QR code ready to use. Click "Print QR code" for a formatted print card with your business name, QR code, accepted payment logos, and payment URL. You can also copy your payment URL to share digitally — by text, email, or on your website.

When can I start accepting payments?

You can start accepting payments once Stripe confirms that details submitted, charges enabled, and payouts enabled are all active on your Stripe account. Your dashboard shows these three indicators — all three must be green. Stripe verification typically takes minutes for most businesses, but can take longer if additional documents are requested.

Frequently asked questions

No. If you don't have a Stripe account, Manuka Pay creates one for you via Stripe Express during onboarding. If you already have a Stripe account, Stripe Express creates a separate connected sub-account — it does not link your existing personal Stripe account.

For most individuals and small businesses, verification is near-instant once you submit your details. In some cases Stripe may request additional documentation, which can add 1–3 business days. Stripe will email you directly if further information is needed.

Stripe may restrict an account if verification is incomplete or if there is a compliance concern. Manuka Pay will show a verification status warning on your dashboard. You'll need to resolve the restriction directly with Stripe — log in to your Stripe Express account or contact Stripe support.

Each Manuka Pay merchant account has one payment page with one unique URL and QR code. You can configure preset amounts and QR modes to cover different pricing scenarios from a single page. Multiple separate accounts are not supported under a single login.

The minimum charge is $0.50 NZD per transaction. If you set preset amounts, each preset must be at least $0.50. The maximum is $5,000 per preset button (open-amount payments are subject to Stripe's own limits).

Check your spam or junk folder first. If it's not there, log in to the merchant portal — you can request a new verification email from the login screen. Make sure you registered with the correct email address.
